MGS presents Andrew Finn Magill and the Polaris Project

Andrew Finn Magill is a multi-genre fiddler/violinist, educator and media composer. He has been featured on PBS, NPR, and TEDx and has received many prestigious awards and honors including: the Mid-Atlantic Arts grant in conjunction w/ Tanasi (2025), an invitation as one of ten violinists to compete in the Seifert Competition for jazz violin in Krakow, Poland (2024), a North Carolina Arts Council fellowship to make The Polaris Project (2023), and a Fulbright fellowship (2009). He has released three albums on Grammy-winning Ropeadope Records and self-released ten others, all of which can be found on Bandcamp.

Born and raised in Rockford, Illinois drummer/percussionist Chris Burroughs began playing at the early age of four. Music was not only encouraged in the Burroughs household, it was mandatory.
Over the course of his professional career, Chris has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He has been blessed to record, tour, and share the stage with artist like: Dee Dee Bridgewater, Carmen Bradford, Col. Bruce Hampton, Jennifer Holiday, Russell Gunn, Michelle Malone, Chris Duarte, Dave Stryker, Joe Gransden, Dionne Farris, and Jacques Schwartz-Bart.

Tyrone Jackson is nationally recognized jazz piano player and has traveled the world as a solo artist and sideman.  Born in the New Orleans cradle of jazz, Jackson embodies the spirit of the Crescent City.  Jackson’s teachers are a virtual Who’s Who of great jazz piano players ranging from Ellis Marsalis and Mary Ann Bulla to gospel/classical legend Moses Hogan.
As a composer, Jackson has composed original music for Pulitzer Prize-winning author Natasha Trethewey’s book of poems, "Native Guard" turned theatrical play, Pearl Cleage’s play, "Tell Me My Dream," the 2023 release of North Carolina Black Repertory Theater’s “Phenomenal Woman” and many more.  Jackson has recorded 4 Albums—“Dedicated,” “Another Voyage,” “Melody In Nede,” and their new release “From The Mind Of.” Currently, Jackson is a professor at Kennesaw State University, where he is a Senior Lecturer of Jazz Piano and teaches a myriad of classes.

Ethan Jodziewicz is a bassist, producer, composer, improviser, and educator.  Currently based in Nashville, TN, Ethan grew up in the Pacific Northwest where he developed his musicianship playing upright and electric bass (fretted and fretless). While studying classical and jazz at Ithaca College in central New York, he connected with trailblazing fiddler Darol Anger and began touring with his acoustic jazz-grass quartet Mr. Sun.  Eventually transferring to the legendary Curtis Institute, he had the opportunity to study bass with his childhood heroes Edgar Meyer and Hal Robinson, and to study improvisation with Ford Lallerstedt. 

In all his travels, Ethan has played bass on national TV (Jimmy Kimmel, Kelly Clarkson, Rachael Ray, CBS Saturday Morning, PBS Bluegrass Underground, Disney Celebrates America), National Public Radio (Live From Here, A Prairie Home Companion, Tiny Desk Concerts), and on the stages of Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Big Ears Festival, The Grand Ole Opry, and many others.
