In a masterclass situation, the artist will address the student as well as the audience, with comments that involve and inform everyone present, engaging the audience as well as the individual playing. Discussion might feature interpretation, technical issues, which affect every player of that instrument, and it presents a rare chance to “try out” body language, and stage presence.

Masterclass with Fiachra Garvey

This MGS masterclass with Fiachra Garvey provides the opportunity to hear students from the UNCG and MANC piano studios perform.  Students will perform works by Bach, Liszt, Mozart, and Rachmoninoff.  Fiachra will address the students as well as the audience with comments and suggestions.  Both students and audience members will have the opportunity to engage with Q&A.

This is an open event presented at no charge.  The masterclass will take place on the stage of the Tew Recital Hall at UNCG.  A reception with the artist will take place afterwards.
